Was on the motorway yesterday and decided to see how the car pulls in 3rd to redline. Speed max'ed out at 90mph! I could have sworn this used to be 80mph with the original ECU!??!

 

Revs is the only thing that effects your top speed in gears so any ecu mod should not effect top speed unless of course the extra power lets you get into the higher revs otherwise unobtainable normally to drag etc. Also unless it increases your rev limit which i would of thought it doesn't.

 

Unless you can rev higher then it's not possible

 

It was bouncing off the limiter just past the redline. What is the max speed in 3rd on a UK99?

It was hard to tell where exactly it was bouncing off as I was trying to keep an eye on the road

 

That's why we were made with two eyes. One for the road and one for the tacho. Try it next time.

Anyway, I thought gear ratios dictated max speeds in each gear?

 

yeah thats what i thought, but it must be going past the redline to hit 90. before i used to get a jolt at 80.

as for 2 eyes, well, one was in the rear view mirror as I could see a cop car coming the other was on the road
