I was wondering if anyone could help me with this, as it's driving me mental!
After about 4000 miles from new, I had to have the gearbox on my STi6 Type R removed, so that the 5th gear synchro could be replaced. It was making a crunching sound when shifting up from 4th to 5th when doing anything above 3000 rpm. I believe this is a common problem with STi5/6 Imprezas, and I was told that the fix was to replace the syncrho with a version 4 one, and this is what was done. The car was perfect for about 2000 miles, but now the problem has returned! It's not quite as bad as before (yet), but seems to be getting worse. Has anyone been through this before, or does anyone know a permanent fix for this? Any help/advice would be much
appreciated.
