In response to a few queries on the fitment of a K&N Induction Kit to an early model, Ive just fitted a 57i from a 97 UK car (cheers Andy!) to my MY93 WRX. It does in fact fit, however you need to remove the bottom piece of the airbox (K&N recommend you leave it in).

You also need to drill 2 of the holes so that they line up better where the plate meets the AFM housing. This is easy to do, and must simply be due to the fact that the MY97> has slightly different hole centres.

I also had to use the original hose from the resonator box to connect it to the AFM itself. The reason, the K&N supplied hose puts the filter at the wrong angle to fit behind the ABS (not a concern if you dont have it of course!).

2 of the brake lines into the ABS need VERY CAREFUL adjustment to ensure they dont touch the filter, but with a suitable bracket in place to hold the filter over to the inner wing and away from the ABS module, its no probs.

Anyway, if anyones thinking about an Induction Kit for an MY93ish car, wants a K&N but is put off as they dont list one (they will do soon BTW), go with a MY97>...you wont be dissapointed.

The new noise is awesome. It amplifies the exhaust note and gives a nice little induction rush as you accelerate. You can also hear the OEM dump valve now which is a huge improvement, together with a bit of burble on the overun

Bit of a job, but I'm sure it was worth it!!

I now have to wait until Friday lunchtime until I can pick up my car!!
