Unhappy

Does anyone have any experience of this?
My 98 STi v4 had a big end bearing fail recently. The cost of a rebuild is huge as it needs crank, pistons and a rebore among other things.....
Comments from people who service imprezas range from "it's a really common problem" to "we have only seen this once".
If it's really a rare problem I'm just going to get a salvage engine. If not, the people who quoting for the rebuild say they have a fix for the problem. (but it's pricey...)

Speaking of which,if anyone knows of a good source for an STi 4 engine, please let me know!

Cool

Let me take a stab in the dark here, did Power Engineering claim it was a common problem they see a lot off?

Roger Clark Motorsport, GGR and Autosportif all said it was something they saw a lot of.
Lockyear cars said that they've only seen this problem once, but they've been importing and servicing them for a long time. Maybe it's because customers of the first 3 are either rallying or doing trackdays?
Clark's said that they have a fix, and that engines they've fixed have never gone again....
What's the experience with Power?
