Question

just got back from my local tyre/exhaust fitting centre where we tried to fit my new scorpion box and cat replacement centre section. Although the box fittings seem ok the mounting brackets on the cat replacement pipe seem to be for a different model(mine is my99)if not a different car! Even using all the adjustment available on the front joint the best result I can get is that the pre-box second section of cat replacement comes up hard against the rear heat shield. before I take a welder to it to extend the brackets and make them fit do any of you have experience of this system? are my problems unusual, could it be a wrong component? etc etc.

John.

I have a full Scorpion system on my car, but I didn't have to modify anything to fit the centre/back sections.
I know it was a bit close to the heat shield, and they may have just bent it up a bit.
I have a MY98, but I think it's the same system.

Contrary to the popular urban myth you "can get better tha a quick fit fitter". you can do it yourself!
My obvious first mistake was to read the Scorpion instructions which came with the new exhaust. step 1. "have exhaust fitted by profesionals". Having trusted them with my pride and joy I expected them to know that the foot bone conects to tne ankle bone etc etc.
Having spent an hour in the garage with some mates today it seems that if one fits the 3 components of the exhaust together in the CORRECT order, miraculously.....it fits!
Dohh!
So remember everybody. never read the instructions, never read the instructions, never read......................

sounds great, worth all the agro.

Maybe the didn't mean profesional exhaust fitters?

hmm?

My Scorpion went straight on aswell,no probs.

I allways fit things first then look at the instructions if there's any bits left
It usually works anyway!

Phill.
