Simon, if you use the search facility at the top of the board, you should find answers to a lot of your questions.

The only problem is, they'll prompt about another five questions each

Keep grinning!

Guys and Gals

Just bought a MY99 5dr, had it for 2 weeks now, still grinning.

Anyway, I've got loads of questions:

Is SUL worth using?

Is this ECU reset malarkey worth doing if you use SUL (Or don't)?

On the subject of ECU, I've read that pootling about is bad for it, why, surely that shouldn't affect it as the engine is unstressed so shouldn't need ECU intervention, or I am I misunderstanding things?

Also, there seems to be a difference of opinion on whether the ECU will recover optimal settings or not, say if you start using SUL, anyone know the score?

I'm struggling to get much more than 200 miles a tank, is that normal (not complaining given the performance, just wondering)?

What are the best upgrades given I want to keep the warranty intact? What Impact do they have on insurance?

Guys and gals, if this post is overloaded with questions I'm sorry, just got a lot to ask!

Cheers

Simon

Simon,

Only STI's need SUL as a must. WRX' and UK cars are more than happy on UL. (They run at a lower RON rating).

The saving is worth it alone. As for the fuel consumption, UK cars should get slightly over 200 to a tank. But as you have just got the car, less than 200 is not uncommon.

My STI will do 200 to a tank of reasonable driving (my girlfriend gets 225+). I'm told UK cars can go down to 9MPG on a track!!!

Enjoy your new car

CB
P.S. As for mods, check with any Scooby dealer as to what you can and can't do.

Cool

My record on a tank is 308 miles on SUL in my STI4 but if I drive "properly" then I return approx 230-240 miles. The only mods are SS backbox, ITG filter and Broquet catalysts. One thing I have noticed tho is when I go to the petrol station with the fuel light, guage showing empty and fill up, I can only get 50 litres max in. I still have 10 litres to go! Anyone else experience this?

Simes
Welcome to Scoobyworld!

I have a 99my 4 door. I have a Scoobysport back box & ITG filter, but otherwise my car is standard. I use SUL & get about 22mpg. The mpg goes up on motorway trips & waaayyy down on A & B round driving. This means that I get about 225miles to a tank of SUL.

Don't worry about a reset on a 99my car. You have the newer management computer, so it should sort itself out.

Check with your insurance company about upgrades. Obvious ones are Scoobysport backbox & air filter. This *shouldn't* affect your warranty - but check with your dealer.
