I know this is a silly question but how exactly do you top up the gearbox with oil. Surely it's not the same place as the gearbox dipstick is in?

Yep..it is...
Its normally a dealer job..
I have an automotive "syringe" that is designed for this purpose... holds a litre of fluid...
I believe you can by something similar and far cheaper from halfords ?

I use one of those litre oil bottles with a soft plastic delivery pipe. Fill bottle with oil, bend pipe so oil doesn't run out, shove into gearbox. Simple.

I use a small funnel with a hose attached to the end for this. Does the job.

This has just reminded me of my mates sister trying to fill her escort up with oil down the dipstick, very funny at the time

Thanks all the replies. I can't believe you fill it down the dipstick. At least I know I wasn't going mad and couldn't find where you fill it up.

Hi,
Why not roll a cone out of an A4 sheet of paper, put the bottom in the dipstick hole and pour in the oil?
Easy peasy.
Cheers,
Alex
