Hi Guys!

One important thing to bear in mind with regards to comparing power/torque figures before / after mods is that the government moved the super-unleaded goalposts recently, so the quality of fuel has dropped significantly over the previous 98 ron stuff. If you ran your car on 98 before, and have 97 and new mods now, the figure may well be handicapped by the drop in octane level as well as the atmosheric conditions!

It does now make you wonder whether that 2RON is worth it...

That 2 ron makes all the difference to the combustability of the fuel. The drop from 98 to 97 I found very noticeable (knock, knock)
Had to change my Link settings considerably, especially in the boost ramp up area.

Guys,

If, for example, we had a car that was fine on 98, but retarded itself by, say 5 degrees, on 97 because it heard the onset of det. If we then retarded the mapping by, for example, 2 degrees, the engine would be safe again and no ecu retarding would occur, so we have essentially ADVANCED the car by 3 degrees, so we get MORE power (on 97)!

its early days yet for me and the link (understatement) but essentially relying on the ECU to retard ignition is a big no-no as far as my plans go.
It is useful as an engine failure preventer but the idea is to map the engine so that there is NO knock to start with.

and anyway, this idea of mapping "on-the-limit-of-knock"..will mean that come summer everyone will have to get out their tuning modules again
