Could be a problem with the auto-adjust mechanism which adjusts the biting point as the clutch plates wear. Assuming the Impreza has one of course...

Unhappy

Just over a year ago I purchased a '95 Turbo . The car was in excellent condition except for the clutch which needed to be raised right up before connecting. The dealer said that if it failed within three months he would replace it. It failed within weeks, and from what I understand, they purchased the clutch from Subaru and fitted it.

Now some 12 months on the clutch has just changed in the last seven days, with no bite until very high up.

Is it ready to go or something wrong?

It goes in this week to Subaru for a service, but I thought I better get some advice before hand.

Thanks, Alan

the Subaru's got a hydraulic pump to compensate excessive freeplay. I don't think it's been replaced...it'll automatically adjust pedal height n biting point. have another person check it out n bring it up to them if it's not the case.

Thumbs up

Thanks guys,

The pedal has deteriorated further since yesterday! I'll speak to Subaru at the service.
