I'm looking at buying a MY96 which comes with prodrive suspension and 17 inch wheels. I figured that a good order for further modification would be:

1) Brakes. What are the best brakes to fit to 17inchers? Is the Brembo kit from SS good?

2) SS Backbox. Mainly for the noise but I'm hoping it will improve response a bit.

3) Replacement air filter. Originally thought of using the ITG but was wondering what people's thoughts were of the (admittedly more expensive) stainless steel Blitz induction kit offered by PE?

4) PE Phase 1. Figured with the brakes and responsiveness sorted, go and get a power upgrade.

These mods will probably be over the course of months rather than days. Do you think I've got the order right? Am I missing something vital? Has anyone else modded a MY96? How does it compare to a MY97?

You see, the alternate option would be to get a clean MY97 and buy the above plus a Leda B kit......I'm just so confused. Too many options!

Advice please.... Thanks!!!!

Oz.

IMO you've got the order more or less right, though I think I'd change the exhaust/filter before the brakes to get full aural benefit asap! The SS is definitely the most popular box, though there are other induction kits on the market (Pipercross, K&N) which are less than half the price of the Blitz one. Check some out at Donington or something.
The Brembo kit is one of the best, and top of my list next year.
If you really need adjustable suspension, it may be worth buying a standard newer car though, and I think most people would agree that Leda or equivalent is better than Prodrive. I personally would do this.
I think you'll find that the main difference is that an MY97 can be up to a year newer than the MY96 and has better seats.
Hope this helps a bit.

Stef.
