Thumbs down

I had a new clutch and gearbox bearings fitted a couple of months ago and noticed it slips when the turbo comes in after its been running on and off for a few hours, the car is a 94 UK model, it dosen't slip when cold and warm. I'm dreading taking it back to the clutch place as they seem a to be a 1.3 Escort sort of place and I dont think they had seen an Impreza before, (something I didn't know beforehand, although they were efficient).
Any advice would be appreciated.

Question

I've got the same problem in my 94 UK model. The clutch slips in 3rd & 4th @ 4000 revs approx, although the car doesn't have to be especially hot. It may even happen when cold - haven't tried it yet.
What did you discover?
I fear I need a new clutch - which sounds expensive - any idea how much (fitted)?

Matt,

The exact same problem as you have, clutch slipping around 4k+ started to me on the way home this evening. I would have thought however a slipping clutch would have caused a 'burning clutch' type of smell?

I have just phoned Lockyear motors about my clutch.

A heavy-duty clutch will be around £680 <faint!> fitted (4 hrs. labour)

Cool

why use a heavy duty one when it's giving some 10 over % more? have the clutch removed to tell the story b4 committing. I've ever seen an EVO having his clutch racing clutch replaced every 3-6 month. Why? The previous mechanic didn't get the torque even at all the bolts.
