Info- Oil cooler kit for Subaru(GC8) 10 0r 13 Row kit with and without remote oil filter adapter. Price range from 900 to 1200 Sing. Dollar.

Low water temp. thermostat 71 degree C. to replace 78 degree C.(original). Is out right now and able to keep the water temp. lower by 10%..... at long running. Price is 150-180 Sing. Dollar.

Let me know if anyone can get it at cheaper price. Anyone using it right now in UK??

Firefox- I mount the remote oil filter on the right side of the engine at the chassis. Lots of cold air there.

Hi there,

I am looking at fitting an oil cooler system to my STi...

But have come across a stumbling block. Where do you fit the remote connector. It wont fit between the mount and oil filter, there doesnt seem to be room for the pipes ?

The best system is Mocal, I have used these in the past and are very good.

Cheers,

J.

Guys - The Forrester auto has a factory oil cooler that will bolt right in to your car - it is actually watercooled, and seems to work very well, plu sit installs very simply. I just didit on my MY99 2.5RS Impreza Turbo

Just something to consider. Reducing the water temperature seems like a good idea but ... the engine management expects the engine to operate in a certain temperature range. If you force it to be too cold then it will just assume its not warmed up properly and run with a rich mixture. I had this happen (not on an Impreza, change the stat and the car would not tick over properly and ran rough. Be careful not to overdo it. There is no substitute for a good quality oil cooler as oil temperature is not directly related to water temperature.

In the temperature range from 60 degrees up to 100 degrees the temperature guage does not move. This is deliberate so drivers do not worry. My car (STi Wagon) runs normally at about 82 degrees when driving in an ambient of 28 - 32 degrees.

I am not saying don't do it ... just don't over do it.

Bob
