First thing is that the reading can't be relied on at all until the lambda sensor has warmed up, which can take up to five minutes.

Secondly, when the sensor has warmed up, under normal idle/cruise conditions you should either not see the red LED at all, or if you do, it should be flashing on and off. If it's on all the time, something's not as it should be.

As John says, the time to read it properly is under WOT, and at full acceleration/boost. If it's reading red under those circumstances, yes, it is likely that your mixture is too lean.

Hi everyone, i have just fitted a dawes device and a AF meter to my 93WRX. I started my engine up for the first time and when i revved the engine my Meter lit up red. I immediately switched the engine off and loosened the controller as much as i could. I then started the engine up again and now the red light comes on almost at idle, im not sure what to do now can somebody please help.
Thanks
Chris

The relevant time to read the meter is on wide open throttle. On idle or cruise it should oscillate up and down regularly.

I thought that Scoobs were mapped to run a slightly lean map on part throttle? Must admit that when warm, mine does occasionally but when the throttle is pressed the lights change up to green or blue. A couple of mornings the blue light has been on from start up and taken a couple of miles to go out.
