Turbo Heashield
Is it safe to keep the item off the car? One of the brackets has messed up and as a result i cant secure that bit to the turbo. It rattles and i would like to remove! Not sure about it though as its right next to the brake servo thingy.
Cheers Guys!

RB5.....
To check turbo best to take off downpipe & see if it is lined with oil.....
or better still go to a specialist they'll fit an oil pressure gauge to the turbo & check the pressure; if its in accordance with Subaru's recomendations then its OK if not its an early sign of oil starvation & possible bearing failure
Would take 20-30 minutes for latter.....

The intercooler will be more prone to heatsoak from the turbo. Therefore off the line races like Santa Pod may cause det issues until the intercooler has cooled. The idea of the intercooler is to keep the charge temps to a min. It cant do that at standstill, so be carefull not to thrash her off the line if she has been left to heat up for a while.
Just my opinion Hope this helps

Cheers guys just what i wanted to know! I think i'll purchase another one just to be safe, or as mentioned wrap it up with heat wrap. Hopefully going to FMIC in a few months so this wont be an issue if i decide to go for the FMIC.
The car is due back at Subaru for yet another gearbox rebuild on Wednesday and i've already asked the mechanic to check the turbo out fully. Just hope he does this rather than feed me with bull**** about it being fine. She goes ok, its not that its just that with the 4 engines i've had all under warranty i think the turbo should have been replaced. At the end of the day they aren't paying for it the warranty company are. She just does't sound like she used to. Wonder what the'll say when they see the downpipe on the car!!!
Here's hoping they dont complain.
