Dear all, I wonder if somebody could help. I have a MY97 and have recently driven a MY98 and the brake pedal seems to travel a long way before the car starts slowing (about a third of full travel). Is there an adjustment? I've just fitted new standard discs and pads (bedded in now), thinking that would cure it, but no change. Done 84K. considered a master cylinder rebuild kit?

Have you bled the brakes at all,it took 2 attempts on my MY01 to get them to feel right.
Fitting braided lines will also firm the pedal up considerably.

Another vote for bleeding the brakes here.
Sounds as if youv'e cooked the fluid.

Sounds like the exact problem I've got. I'm going to try bleeding them again at the weekend. My pedal travels 75% of the way before it brakes. If you pump the pedal first then brake does your pedal firm up?
