How much noise is "normal" for my fuel system. Its a Walbro pump running 4 bar atmospheric. It whines all the time and the noise can be heard from in the boot (obviously) and from the front of the car. It seems especially loud when in traffic or after a thrash. Is it normal for it to make differant noises after differant types of use? I would of thought it would be a constant noise.

Any help much appreciated.

Yeah, its coming from there 'cos thats where the pump sits! Mines always been noisey but I swear its got louder. I'm a bit worried myself!

When i'm driving, say in traffic, I can hear the whine like crazy. It seems to be from the front and the back of the car though. Obviously, its loudest above the cover in the boot. just wondering if the Walbro is up to scratch.

My car is an MY99 and it only has 1 pump in the tank. I know this for a fact because I fitted the new one.............which was from RC developments.

Mine to is a MY99 STiV, it should still have 2 pumps, the other is called a jet pump for fuel returning to the tank(thanks to Mr Rawle for that gem)i think i will have to replace mine as the last thing i want is for the pump to pack up or the engine to run lean

Just been to my mates garage to get it checked. Apparently, these pumps are noisey, especially at higher pressure. No need to worry for me!
