Question

Last week I started to experience significant FM radio inference at the start of every journey if, and only if, the engine was cold. The interference is not station dependent. It does not matter where the journey starts. It does not noticeably change frequency with engine revs. BUT it only lasts about 3 minutes, which is the same time that the dreaded cold start-up hesitation/hunting occurs. I think there must be some connection here.
On Friday my dealer changed the radio unit (yes its the standard Philips "Wonderunit"), but this has made no difference.

Does anyone have any idea what happens for the first 3 minutes of a cold start journey that is different from warm start or normal running that could be causing this type of interference?

Julian.
