I've noticed that there is an awful lot of up & down play in the steering wheel on my new 99my. I've tried adjusting the height and locking it off in all positions but the play still remains - the whole wheel and column will lift about an inch or so. Has anybody else experienced this ie is it a 'feature', or should I accost my dealer about it?

 

The steering wheel in my MY98 is as solid as a rock. I'd get on to your dealer asap.

 

I would take it straight to your dealer do not pass go etc etc There should be no play in the steering column at all. It sounds like the locking mechanism is not working properly to me.
