I recently suffered a conrod failure in the 4th cylinder. The car is only 7 months old and had covered 4900 miles. Fortunately it is under warranty (David Hendry Cars) and a new engine is on order (The bad news is that the V4 engine is no longer manufactured as a complete unit, all the components have to be ordered seperately and their is a month wait for the block!)

Question: Has any one had a similiar problem, what was the cause?

I would use Super if available (approx 60-70% of the time).

I have spoken with ScoobySport today about this. They are confident that running STI engines on standard (95) unleaded rather than Super plus (98) can cause problems. They have had a number of people come to them with serious damage to their engines who have been using 95 unleaded. I had been using a mix, but the last 2 tanks had been 95. I will only be using 98 in the future. It is not worth the risk to save a few pounds.
