Car is a 94m 5dr turbo.

Recently (or at least we've only noticed it recently) there seems to be an on/off clunking noise coming from the front during
a full-lock reverse (usually out of a parking place).

Yesterday had a loud single clunk going
forward in a straight line at about 40mph.
(Nothing visible on road and or hanging down from car).

Since the loud single clunk the reverse on/off clunk hasn't been reproduced (but then it didn't happen every time anyway).

Any ideas, (roll-bar, suspension?).

I've also heard this on my car (MY98). In full lock when pulling out of my drive in reverse, sounds like I am reversing over large rocks/gravel.

Having just looked at the faq again (should
have done so before posting). Could this be the wearing of the anti-roll bar bushes alluded to in 3.11.

This has also happened on my 95 STiII. It only happens first thing in the morning when it has been very cold, it also appears to be accompanied by my handbrake light staying on for about 15-20 mins. The car was serviced on Wednesday, the usually handbrake tightening etc... However, it hasn't happened since, but it also hasn't been that cold! I guess the jury's still out on that one.

MIKE R mike i suspect it may be the front coil spring being wound up this usually happens on full lock the top suspension mounting rubber dries up and grabs on the coil spring thus trying to twist the spring which ends up with a banging noise, its a possibilty, peter

My MY99 developed a "clunking" in lefthand rear after couple hundred kms, audible mainly with low speed turning. At 1000km service it was traced to a dry bush in rear swaybar. All were greased and no problem since (now 6500kms).
