Warranty Question - Clutch
Car has done 57K miles.... has a warranty til Feb04..........
Clutch is on its way out, so would any Subaru garage replace it?
Guess this is a issue of fear wear and tear item versus warranty taken out on part to last
Anyone got lucky and had it done??

Edited cos spelling went all funny

warranty "normally" only cover the clutch assembly for a max of 30k miles, unless it can be proven to show signs of judder or vibration. Simply signs of slipping is down to wear and tear.
But yes, any subaru dealer should be able to undertake such work and may help with diagnosis and possibly get prior authorisation before doing the work, if possible to cover under warranty, especially if requiring a flywheel! rather expensive if suffering with heat cracks, moreso if clutch is slipping, it will do more damage the longer it drives.

Something that I want to find some more details. I took my MY00 into the dealers this morning for them to investigate it popping out of 5th gear. Whilst on the road test with a technician, I mentioned how the clutch had juddered since I've had it and I've never got round to trying to get it replaced under warranty.
He said that he does 4-5 clutches a week on them, and that Subaru had now brought out a modified clutch to sort out the judder problem and these are now what are being fitted under warranty, usually together with a new flywheel. He said to mention it to the service manager and get it booked in to be done before the warranty runs out (next month).
I mentioned it to the service manager who just said "not a chance, with 54k on the clock".
I can sort of see where they're coming from, but regardless, the clutch has always juddered from cold, it's a known problem so should it not be fixed as a warranty claim?
Does anybody have an authoritative view on the "wear and tear" issue?
