I have a MY 97 WRX engine complete, minus the cam cover and two pulleys (as I dropped them) and wondered what it was worth second hand. I need the space in the garage, so will consider any reasonable offer

Second hand engine can go from between £700 - £1500.

Sorry thats no real help but i would say go for about £1000-£1200 and you should get it

 

Told the guy that interested I want £1000, but in my mind will accept £900

wish they were that cheap in the midlands, they swop hands here for between £1200 and £1750, dependent on mileage. But if bits missing, especially cam gears/belt/cover, may drop price somewhat as no guarantee engine not been damaged in accident whilst still running. I appreciate you say you dropped the gears, but to a guy with pound notes in his hand, try denying it these days,any excuse to get things for mega silly prices..
