Limmasol (Cyprus) scoobs
Hi
I just got back from Limmasol and I saw lots of sweet scoobs there, I was at the service area for the cyprus rally on saturday and took a photo of a sweet black classic and a photo of a sweet RA outside Beachcomber the other night. There was also what looked like a 22b with roof scoop and various other scoobs including non turbos. I also went up Troodos last tuesday and saw and heard a sweet silver classic blatting it away from Troodos.
Does anyone from there use scoobynet and own any of these?

Paul, not much help for recent sightings. But I spent three years there and got my first WRX, which I brought back with me a few years ago.
There are a lot of Cypriots into Jap import WRX's. There's a main dealer in Nicosia and a smaller one in Limassol, with many car dealers having one or two on their forecourts. Chris the Limmasol owner had an extremely modified sonic RA. Well over 400 BHP at the time, which I was going to part own and bring back with me to sell as I had tax free status. Unfortunately the insurance was way too much.
The last time I spoke to him, I mentioned this BB. Unfortunately a lot of them aren't really interested. They just enjoy their cars and take part in alot of meets. Jet skiing is also a big part of their social life (I had a Yamaha 760 and used to race with them)
The roads are pretty bad (in a driving sense) apart from a superb coast road from Lim to Pafos.
The Troodos road (note: not roads) is great also, but they don't have too many to offer any variety and the cops are everywhere. Off road is fraught with red tape for permission to drive on and BAD for tyres and underside damage with the rocks and stones etc....
Chris did dabble with a little rallying and may have been part of the scene for the past few years.
Now that I've seen this, I'll drop the guy an email....

Hi Alan
One of the cars I spotted was a sonic blue RA that I took a photo of but it wasn't with my digital camera
It looked modified and had Repsol across the rear spoiler. I am sure I have seen people posting on here that are from Limmasol so I will just wait and see.
The bikes over there are even nuttier. Coming back from the bar the other night there was what loked like an R1 wheel spinning and sliding away from the traffic lights near the estella weaving through traffic on the junction while sliding and spinning with no helmet on
It was an awesome site

Yep bikers ARE Pure nutters. The RAF used to open the runway at the Akrotiri Airforce base once a year to bikes and cars for runs.
Sleeveless T-Shirts and no helmets with runs at 150+. They had to put a stop to it and force them to wear jackets and helmets. The cars loved it too. Happy days!!!
As I was buying my WRX, I saw a few Scoobs power sliding away from the lights on right and left handers. Great stuff.
Try and post the RA and I'll let you know if the car is Chris's.

Alan C, did the open day on Akrotiri a couple of years back with the SCMCC - One of the best laughs ever especially watching Tassos trying to keep the front of his bike down all along the strip!
When I bought my WRX from Chris, he told me that there was one 22b on the Island so paulpalmer, you could have seen the 'real' thing.

I've got to go to Cyprus on a business trip... sounds great, except I have to be at Heathrow for 9:45am (and I live in the Midlands), on a Sunday morning
, and I'm flying back on the Monday afternoon. BAH!
Will keep an eye out for Scoobs though... and I'm going to Larnaca.

The Brits (Forces) out there do get Tax free status. So picking up a nice car that is usually just out the price range is not a problem. AS a perk of the job, you can put your name down on a list and get a free (well, couple of packs of beer) Herc flight that is empty on the way back to the UK for your motor.
