Hi all,, i have noticed that my MY96 has an oil leak...

i get a few drips on the drive agfter returning from a run... i generally have to top up every 2-4 weeks 1-2 pts i know its not burning it as the exhaust has hardy any residue in it i know it drips onto the down pipe and second cat (wind effect) as you can see puffs of smoke coming away from the back of the car at speed

drip (puff) drip (puff) etc

i cant see where its coming from... we had a gool look when we gdid an oil change, the bloke reckoned it was my sump gasket leaking

i did think front crank seal... and the drip pan is pretty clogged with oil, but i would have thought that given this amount of oil when i took the inspection covers of the cam belt, there would have been some evidence there... but all seem clear..

I tried to see about having the front crank seal done but my local garage wont touch it..

any help would be appreciated

Rocker cover gaskets are prone to leaking after a few years, could easily be that!!

Mart

I had the same problem on my MY95

It was the rocker gasket covers, got both sides replaced and a new front crank seal by Mainland in Widnes and has been fine ever since
