Question

Recently bought a w reg uk turbo 2000. It has an ITG panel filter fitted. The filter looks new apart from the edges of the foam have dried out. The filter looks fine but in the bottom of the air box there is oil residue is this normal? Also I have read various posts about ITG panels being bad for scooby's?!?

How long do these filters last and does it need replacing if the edges have dried?
Is it worth changing to green panel?

Thanks in advance

Simon,

do a search, there is loads of info on ITG and oil residue. I changed mine yesterday for a Green Cotton Filter.

The oil in the airbox is excess from the ITG panel filter. None should have gotten past the filter. I have a MY00 Turbo & bought the same filter, but having become a regular on Scoobynet, & read lots of info on the subject of filters both positive & negative, I've chickened out & replaced it with an STI panel filter (scoobymania) for peace of mind. It doesn't use any sticky oil, & looks cool as ****, shame the airbox isn't transparent!
