I have a MY03 WRX with 5k on the clock. Recently, on occasions, I seem to loose power, particularly on warmer days. It seems like the turbo is not working.

Is this a known problem or is it back to the dealer ?

Any advice appreciated.

thanks
James

If you do a search you'll find this topic has been covered in some depth.

I think the summarised version is 'yes', but is not neccesarily just down to 'heat' but also humidity and a few other factors.

LCJ i have had a similar problem, i also have a WRX 03, what grade petrol are you running? it seems to happen more often when i used 95, im going to try and run it solely on optimax to see if that sorts it out. Thats what i was recommended to try.

Have you experienced the same effect if youve been on a long drive? i.e. over 50 miles? I would be interested to know.

Thanks for the replies.

I have been running on 95 - will try Optimax as you suggest.

It usually happens when tank is getting low (under 1/4) and I have been doing some "fast" twisty bits.

Haven't done any long runs lately.

I will check the archives also

thanks again

James

It will cause power reduction because the increase in charge temperature means less weight of charge for the same boost pressure. Thats the simple answer.

It was noticed by many of us during the hot spell.
