im posting this thread for a friend who`s big end went in his STI type R Version 4 today anyone got a reccomendation as to where he can get a reasonably priced rebuild, with a proper warranty?

33,000 miles on her only had it a year

have you had the oil changed recently by any chance..??? what petrol do you run it on..??? and any mods..??

if you had an oil change recently it will be crank dammage just like my m8's

Dont let it put you off!! like all highly tuned turbo cars they are oil dependant if you purchase a car from someone who has changed the oil frequently you have a better chance of it not going bang..

unless they no how to do it properly... ie cranking the engine over without it starting until the engine oil pressure light goes out....

seriously though, I want to buy a scoob so that I have a fairly reliable motor that is still rapid.

It is worrying that the big ends etc can go within 30K miles!!

Are there any initial signs or do they suddenly go pop and leave you with an engine that needs some serious dosh chucking at it?

I had a big end go it seems a common thing on these car I got mine done at thames valley sports really good and helpful.

My car is running like a dream now oh his number 01189451333 (colin).
