know what you mean salsa I took the front header shield off cos it had a bad rattle and some of the bolts had rusted through. But now when it was hot yesterday the up pipe and turbo heat shield was rattling like hell.

I think I need to take them all off and rap them in exhaust rap.

I know what you mean about the rattle, got a hks system on my93 wrx and mine sounded ****e when you booted her, so took it to roger clarke motorsport, They said it may be up pipe at first then found it to be a cracked heat sheild just below the manifold, So a new one was welded on.

But OE up pipe is over £200 and replica £80 so be careful if your changing the up pipe.

Had my front header heat shield removed by dealer at last service, cleared the rattle and I have now wrapped the header to reduce under bonnet temps.

Salsa yes its the one under the engine just behind the rad the middle shield is the offender and usually goes rusty in time as it is the one prone to the elements the most. Also there is the d/p shield poss u/p shield not sure that is rattling on mine.

Took mine off and threw it as far as i could

Problem solved. Figured that it was pointless getting a new one cos the same would happen again and also didn't fancy the scrap with the dealer to get it under warranty

The one near my lambda sensor (import one so it's just infront of the drivers wheel) has fractured 3 times in as many years. I'm having the damn thing removed at the next mot in two weeks and getting it wrapped instead
