Mabe worth checking the tyres as well, as some tyres when worn low can make a similar sound to a bearing.

How should I do that ?

I've been to a tyre service, and the only thing they've done was balancing the front tires...

Could be tyre noise..
But we've seen a few new cars with premature wheel bearing failure..

Mmmm,

My STI7 has sounded like one or both of my rear bearings are noisy, but the noise has only been around since I moved to Goodyear F1 GSD3's last November??? I have put it down to the tyres until now, but the noise does seem to get worse on certain days...

Might have to get it checked out...

if it's tyre noise it will change as you drive over different types of tarmac. best thing to do is go and find some of the nice really flat just laid type and listen to the noise just before you go over it. if it changes it's tyre noise if not then probably a wheel bearing.

as far as i know subaru haven't issued a bullitin about premature wheel bearing failure

I've done the tyre noise test and the sound doesn't change...

Anyone knows a DIY method to check the wheel bearings ?

Cheers
