air flow meter gone?? help.

It went a while ago but the symptoms were different so here goes.
Hit about 5k revs and lost all power, no bang and revs dropped down and stalled. Started up again with no starting problems, check engine light on constant. Erratic idling and overfueling on idle. Wont go above 3K revs, when i get to 2800 it starts to cough and splutter and doesnt want to know. Think its the airflow meter gone again, just checking?????/
