IIRC it's a function of the BIOS not a function of the O/S, therefore no asci number is associted with the FN key.

What laptop is it?

Question

Why would you want to do it with software?

What about setting it to both displays all the time?

long story short, it's a 5 year old gateway 2000 2300 solo p166mmx.

the bios only allows me to choose between CRT & LCD on boot, not TV, for this i have to press FN-F3. i want the laptop to display to tv out on booting.

it was running win98 and the drivers in the control panel would enable me to switch modes via software, upgraded to win2000 and the driver wont do this - so i need to know how to tell the damn thing to switch modes via a software command

cheers
steven

p.s. yeah, checked the FN keypresses and tried to capture them but as i suspected they just hit the m/board and do their thing
