when i got home today i could smell burning from the engine i opened it up and there was light smoke it was light but i could hear dripping onto the engine somewhere.is it a leaking pipe,blocked pipe or something major im hoping its one of the first 2 are these pipes prone to leaking or blocking

I reckon it is either one of two things:
Thermostat housing leaking slightly onto the headers
Drivers side rocker leaking (popular) onto the up pipe.
Either way they are not expensive to sort out.

Where is the smoke coming from mate? left front right back?
