Hi,

I was wondering if anyone had thought of making a Ferrari like automatic exhaust baffle which causes the exhaust to become louder during high load (or high rpm but I would prefer high load).

Does anyone have any idea how this could be done e.g.

Solenoid controlled flap in a modified back box?

Does anyone know how this is done on other cars?

There's a thing in the Subaru wiring diags about an "electronically controlled muffler" which uses control signals from the ECU presumably to reduce backpressure under full acceleration at the expense of more noise.

I have no idea if this was ever fitted to any production impreza though, found it quite strange to even exist in the diags!

The later Twin Turbo Legacies had this flap on the rear box of the exhaust - I seem to remeber it only opens at high revs and full throttle
