Testing the water with this one:

Coming back from Le Mans this year, I managed to lunch the engine
in the Legacy, and due to financial comittments elsewhere have come to the difficult desision to sell it as is, rather than get it fixed.

The car is a 1994 Legacy (BG) GT. Permanent 4WD with what is effectively a WRX Engine with twin, sequential Turbos.

STANDARD FEATURES:

-5-speed Manual (this is very rare as only 20% of Legacies were manual and less than 10% of these left Japan)
-Fully automatic climate control
-Electric windows
-Electric, heated and folding Mirrors (I had the mirrors wired into the alarm so that they fold in when armed)
-Central locking
-Momo steering wheel
-Bronze tinted side windows
-16" BBS x-spoked forged lightweight alloys
-Rear luggage compartment blind

ADDITIONAL FEATURES:

-Limited addition Impreza STI front bucket seats in cloth and Alcantara
-Complete Hayward & Scott Exhuast system including secondary Turbo downpipe, de-cat centre and tailpipe.
-AP semi-organic racing clutch
-P1 front calipers and discs
-Spare Tarox front brake discs
-Spare set of Speedline gold 6-spoke alloys (on the car at present)
-Load-liner
-Tow-bar

SERVICE HISTORY:

Current mileage shown: 96K (although 48.5K of that has been verified as KM, bringing the real mileage down to 77,000 miles)
Tax: 08/03
MOT: 11/03

I bought the car with a full service history from Roger Clark Motorsport. Since then it has been maintained exclusively by Subaru4You in Reading.

At 77K it had a full Cambelt and Cambelt Tensioner service and at 87K the Clutch was replaced.

The interior is in very good condition and the bodywork is in good condition - a few dinks here and there, but it is (was) a workhorse. Included when I sell it will be an Insurance authorisation to get the bumper and bonnet resprayed because of a Landcruiser backing into me!

I've had prices for a re-con engine:

Best case scenario is £1300 supplied and fitted. However, if the old unit is not re-conditionable, there will be a £300 surcharge. ANd if the Turbos need replacing, they can be had at a very reasonable £200 each. So worse case scenario is £2000 for a completely re-con engine and Turbo. And they also quoted me a very resonable £150 to transport the car from Reading to Durham.

So what's it worth? Always a tricky one with blown-engines, but I think if someone wants a project or can get hold of the parts even cheaper, this Wardrobe carrying, sub 7 0-60, 145mph+ 'bahn Stormer is a bit of a Bargain: I'm looking for £2500.

Cheers

Had my 99 Legacy GTB re-built about 2k ago and the engine build itself was £1500,that was not including any labour to take out and strip the engine!!!Your £1300 quote is pretty cheap 'cos they did me a favour on the price as well!

It was low....but showing the boys at Le Mans how a Dog Basket goes sideways round a roundabout kind of finished it off

Oooops!!

You live and learn!

I ignored a top end rattle on a Lancia once and it dropped a valve in the fast lane of the M40 at 80mph once....Oh well!

You mention 2 sets of wheel on the ad, Speedlines and BBS, Got a set spare??
