Question

I have an R plate MY98 (need to check month of registration) but some S Plates will surely be classed as MY98 and some MY99.

When was the change over to MY99 style? I know it could be obvious as to Dec/Jan but im sure they didnt stop the production line on new years eve!

I am asking because im looing into maybe getting it remapped/chipped. If its classed as MY98 im stuffed for the Phase 2 and would have to go for thepiggy back Phase1.

Hope you get what im on about! :-/

How can you tell? Identifiable things.

TIA

Have a look at your engine as the best guide to what ECU mods you can use. If the coil pack is in the centre of the inlet manifold it's a MY97/98 phase 1.5 engine. If it's offset to the right of the manifold it's a MY99> phase 2 engine.

The other obvious difference between MY98 and MY99 is the front bumper was updated from the 3-slats design to the one with orange wedges below the indicators.

MY99 has the higher rear spoiler also drivers seat is height adjustable , and cup holders ! I doubt if an R plate (pre August)
would be a MY99, but you never know !
