Question

Been thinking of getting a couple of bits from the states, seems a cheaper way of getting things.

Can anyone recommend a good supplier of parts?

Sorry to any UK based sellers reading this thread

Watch out for the extra taxes on the customs-office.
Here in Belgium we have to pay for import parts an extra tax, add that to your price and compare then to the price of the parts here, it won't differ that much then...

Cool

Thought you was keeping it 'totally' standard
See you Friday week if you're not washing your hair
back to the topic, it doesn't work out any cheaper, I've already tried that - however, you can sometimes do a deal with UK sellers

I had a reply from a place in the States today, $279 for a HKS BOV inc fitting kit for my car.

That's just £165

So why do we have to pay nearly £300 for them new over here then?

Cause its £165 + shipping say £40. Then add 10% import tax and 17.5% vat which is about £261. Then the company makes a profit and charges vat on top of that!!

Its all money

You can get the double-DIN radio surround for MY98-00 interiors brand new from the US including the brackets to move the heater controls for about $20. The breakers in this country want around £40-50 for second hand bits!!

I was ready to order until I found out they only use courier for international delivery which is about $50. Obviously not economical for a single order but if a few people got together it would work out much cheaper.

In the U.S. also try:
Mastro Subaru - Tampa, FL www.mastrowrx.com
Many aftermarket parts on their site, they also carry the full line of factory parts.
Subaru of Gwinnet - Atlanta, GA www.wrxrsparts.com
Many aftermarket parts on their site, they also carry the full line of factory parts.
another good one is www.subaruparts.com which I believe is located near Seattle, WA.

Happy shopping

So are you guys looking for a friendly person in America to ship you bits?
Hows about an ex-pat like me??
Set up a paypal account, and i ship the stuff?
I think (will have to check) that a can ship like a BOV for $25 air freight.
There are bits i want from home that i cant get here in the US. The market over there is more mature than here in the US as things are still developing.
Whats the price of a UK factory body kit for the 02 bug eye wagon? Or are there any better looking kits out there?
Whats considered the best exhaust to get? I can remove all my cats.

Havent you got POC to sort you out the HKS SSQV?? Johnny at grasshopper is very good and is the main importer (i believe) for HKS things. I know he definitely is for Blitz but HKS he gets bloody cheap to! It will be cheaper than getting it abroad.

Defi wise - not sure. Know they are expensive. I think there was company doing them quite cheap, (performance subaru i think) and they were getting them cheaper than they normally retail.

If you want, ill speak to someone at southend. Im sure rb5 286 was the one who told me about cheap(er) defi products
