New Scooby
Just saw this on Auto Express...
The fastest Impreza ever developed is set to blast from rally stage to the road later this year, according to Subaru sources in Japan. Company bosses are talking about bringing a limited-edition production version of the Impreza World Rally Car to Japanese showrooms by December. It's known as the WRCar road-going project, and the body will be prepared by Subaru's Isesaki studio.
While Isesaki's work is understood to be of the highest quality, the firm has only recently switched operations from manufacturing buses to concentrate on designing special interest, low-volume production models. As strange as this might seem, Isesaki has a long association with tuned Subarus.
Most memorably, the company was responsible for the outrageous-looking red-and-black chopped-top Impreza, which was unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Salon in January. Lowered by 100mm, the car demonstrated the firm's skills in making complex structural modifications, and its engine tuning expertise. However, according to our insider, the WRCar project will be a more straightforward affair.

Didn't people decide that the above picture is just photoshoped piccy of the WRC car.
Look at the seats set at different heights etc.
Don't think this is an official picture of what the car will look like, just the rally car with the graphics and cage etc airbrushed out.

Spot on 7 Foot, just look at 2 tell-tale signs:
The passenger side A-pillar - roll cage not been airbrushed out
Rear side window - random bit of blue fuzz fill-in.
Its definately a photoshopped WRC car, can't beleive Autoexpress have it in their magazine! Must've been a slow news week...

...and the uniform blue front door, and the different ride height front vs rear. I don't think that's the point, though. Remember the full page image in Evo that they claimed was the MY03? It was shown a month before anyone had seen the real thing, which looked nothing like it. They grudgingly admitted to the fake in the next issue.
That's not to say that the story isn't accurate, though - and it's about time we had a really special Scooby. The 22B is getting on a bit (although I'd still p/x one used granny!) and the S202 never really captured the imagination in the same one. A WRC look-alike could truly succeed the 22B and, funds permitting of course, I'd give it garage space without a second thought. Given how well the 22B continues to hold its value, it might not even be a bad investment...
