i was driving reasoably enthusiastically at around 4am. Lot of hard braking due to many roundabouts
After 20 minutes I could smell burning and I could see lots of white smoke coming from the front wheels. my friend following could also smell the burning from his car!!! which is not a subaru
I have never seen this before

My question is , is this a serious issue. Or is this normal and nothing to worry about????

Seeing the brakes smoke/burn is a little unnerving
The brakes seemed to work fine (no fade).

might be a good idea to check your pads out, sometimes they crack when they get hot enough to smoke.

if they are cracked replace them!

You've probably fried your brake fluid as well.
Best to flush the system with some new fluid just to be on the safe side.

i would have thoute that the brakes should be able to cope without flushing/checking pads even though they are standard.

After all this was only hard road driving.
If it was a track day fair enough

Are we talking Classic Scoob? If so, no surprises there. Brakes are known weak point. New cars are better, but not infallible.

If your not getting any brake fade you should be ok to leave the fluid, but you may find the pedal becoming "spongy" after a bit of "spirited" driving change it straight away.
Check the discs for any cracks / bad scouring then strip the pads out and deglaze them, everything should be ok after that.

Try again but harder. You might also get flames!
