Hi
Hi everyone! This is my first post here as im looking out to buy a scooby in the next few months IF i can find a nice one.
i just wanted your views on them (i know ur be bias!) such as running costs, insurance and what to look out for etc. Im really after a wrx turbo not highly modified preferably around 1998. I did find a lurvly met blue terzo (wot id love) but it had done 93k already and only 5 years old.
Oh and whats the diff between 4wd and awd?
Thanks everyone, i hope to join the club by the end of the year, touch wood!

Running Costs:
Insurance - Average £1000 pa
Service (2 a year, one minor, one major) £700 pa
Fuel
Get about 240 miles out of a tank of optimax which cost about £40 per tank, but you'll Octance Booster being a Jap import.
Worth every penny thou, plus huge
factor
Hope this helps

awd is just subarus name ie all wheel drive & is the same as 4 wheel drive, insurance will vary greatly on the car (import mods etc) & yer status so best get a few sample quotes from tescos, liverpool vic privilege etc to see wot yer looking at. 98 is a good choice IMO as u have reasonable interior with funky centre pod for gauges if so desires etc etc. Few things to watch for liek piston slap from cold thou. High milage i always say shudnt be a problem if properly serviced etc & i guess its mostly motorway...? Call round where it had services etc. Also i recommend going to a local (or not so local if u wana kum to Cov area massive
) meet to get local expertese & possible help with buying
sidc FAQ has good general info also
Othetr than that get saving as i didnt trruley appreciate how much it costs to run but worth every penny, just makes saving for my next even faster car so much harder
