Some impreza's do have a saftey type mechanism which prevents transmision damage, and it happens if you hold the car in second gear for to long... something like that..!!!

A strange thing happened to me the other day whilst kicking my mates **** in his GSI vectra. As I accelerated in second up the slip road onto dual carriageway, I reached 6.6-7k on the revs and it seemed to slow dramatically until changing to third.

Excuse my ignorance, but in 12 months of Scoob ownership I have not noticed this before. Maybe over excuberance on my part?

Can you remove the limiter? With what dangers?

Advice appreciated.

Also true!Maybe it was 5-6krpm then, but it definitely slowed dramatically with me being nowhere near redlining. So is this a limiting device?

Can I get rid of it or re-set higher up the rev range?
