Cool

Guys / Gals,
Just got myself a MY97 wagon. Bit of an eye opener after a Citreon BX Diesel!!

A few quick newbie questions:

1) Clutch judders alot on take up, usually needs plenty of boot to pull away clean. Not a problem at the minute as I am hairing about in my new toy! But is this normal or is the clutch shagged?

2)The brakes are ****e, usually have to press pedal half way down before any feel/ slowing down. Also huge amount of judder on harsh deceleration. Is this a) going to bloody fast? b) shagged brakes? or c) completely normal?

3) Above 80 (on my private airstrip you understand!!) the car rattles and judders, especially the hatch. Can't see through rear view mirror, hatch makes a racket but the vibration shakes the whole car. Car fitted with 17" wheels, could these be out of balance? or does this sound more serious?

Thanks for any pointers and just wish I had got one sooner!!!

Regards,

Mike

Clutch judder is fairly common when the car is cold, things should improve when it's hot.
Standard brakes are crap, best bet is to upgrade the discs & pads if finances allow, if not just do the pads.
The judder sounds like warped discs, should get it checked out to be safe.
Can't comment on vibrations, my year 2000 is ok.
Have a look here

the brake issue sounds like "warped" discs and probably old/boiled fluid causing the lack of pedal feel!!
your vibration problem could simply be wheels out of balance but your post suggests something more serious to get is that bad!!
did you purchase the car from dealer or private / what age exact model is it??
