running water
Over the past couple of weeks I have heard what sounds like running water just after I start up. It goes away after a while though. Should I be worried? It's a P1. Cheers, Graham.

I had this on my scooby to, i also had it on a fiat punto, so i wasn't that worried, i think it could be something as simple as water circulating round the cooling system on start-up after sitting for a while.
I had it of a long period of time and my car never blew up, so i wouldn't be too worried !

Bo()ox.. your low on water (coolant) mate...
check over overflow res and expansion tank (when cold)
I was lossing water from a small rubber hose that connects to the oil filter cooler. I thought i had an internal leak, until i found it :-)..
That noise is water and air rushing around the system. should be water.
cheers

Yes it is water/air flowing thru the heater matrix that u can hear.. However it shouldn't really happen..
It is due to low water level..... Caused by
1. A pipe or the rad or summat leaking Coolant Externally
2. Or in some cases Head Gasket failure External or Internal

I've only noticed this on cars that have had a de-cat exhaust of some discription.
The water level makes no difference high/low it still will do it on start up.
But remember the dealers favourite comment.
THEY ALL DO THAT SIR.

I second that MY98 has always done it, never used any coolant and has now had 2 coolant changes at services.
It also makes a wooshing when the ignition is turned on, i assume the fuel system pressurizing or similar.
I would have though if you had that little coolant in the system the heater would work erratically?
