at the PE RR day in feb, i saw a sti7 with full decat produce around 310bhp with around 260 torque.

bhp was well up but the torque increase was minimal without a full remap.

i do remember that he used restrictors to stop the car over boosting...

 

I cant imagine getting 45BHP just from an exhaust ....but i hope so ....haha

 

At Well Lane a couple of weeks ago, a STi8 got 267 and a STi8 PPP saw 311 (from memory) so I would imagine yours should see 290-300 ish.

At Well Lane 5 there were 2 STi 8's, one with PPP and one standard, I think the stocker did 270-something and the PPP did 320-ish, IIRC. Take a look at the results thred in the Northern forum.

I would like to compare mine with a PPP at some point. I would think the PPP would have the edge but the Trust kit feels pretty good to me. Certainly more lively than the standard car

 

So the general opinion seems to be around the 280 - 290 BHP mark.

I will let you know how i get on tomorrow.

Stock 257 bhp 235 Torque

PPP'd 287 bhp and 245 Torque (Old Piggy back type not EcuteK remap)

seems to be alot of debate about power station giving lower readings than power engineering.

I would like to see at least 280 BHP at the flywheel but we shall see i guess

 

Gary thats the problem noone has run on all the RR with the same car unchanged under the same weather conditions and temperatures, so we cant see what the relationship between them is. Even then you still wouldnt know which ones are more accurate but at least you would if I get X on this RR then it means approx Y on that RR.

Theres a fair bit of software involved, calculations, human operators and different types of RR. The most important thing is that there is a nice power and curve line and the cars fueling okay. The figures are for fun at the end of the day and the way the car is running is more important IMHO.

BUT

For people to offer their equipment as a service they should have it regularly calibrated as with most other equipment you find in the world. Maybe they do i dont know.

However i was looking at a thread earlier where a guy took his identical car to two places for a power run and the difference was around 30BHP. The runs were done two days apart. Ok atmospheric conditions etc make a difference and you should do three or four runs and take the average but 30BHP. I dont think so.

Im not moaning here but i dont understand the big difference.

You are right though no matter what the BHP you just need to be sure the curve is going in the right direction. However we all spend loads of money on performance parts and if they arent making a difference we are wasting our hard earned.

I guess i will find the truth tomorrow.

It was my STi8 PPP that was at the rolling road day a couple of weeks ago
My car has 2.5k on the clock and produced 311bhp on the rollers.

I have a digi piccy of the power plot that i can email you if you wish to compare.

Mark - believe I know the STi7 you are talking about. It was running full scoobysport decat, just over 300bhp, but only ~260lbft. Part of the reason for this is that - with the restrictor mod - it was producing no detectable boost spikes, and actually maxing out at lower than standard boost in the mid range (only ~1.05 bar peak IIRC). He'd actually had more peak torque previously with the OEM downpipe, thanks to a small boost spike and more boost below 5500rpm. Changing to a slightly less conservative restrictor or remapping to get the boost in faster and perhaps 1.3bar peak would give much more torque and a bit more peak power too.

If you haven't had a restrictor mod, I would expect to see a big torque peak (perhaps 280lbft) around 4k due to a brief spike of very high boost.

Would guess around 300 PE BHP, perhaps a little more with standard restrictor. Won't help if the air temperature is as warm as it is at the moment!

 

Sorry guys been out and about playing in me car ,.....

Car ran at 273BHP with 236Ib ft torque.

I wasnt 100% impressed with that BUT it was absolutely boiling in there. Really not good for a power run. Another guy there with a kit car was down by about 20BHP due to the weather. I reckon that once she has loosened up abit (3000 miles at the mo) and on a non tropical day I should see around 285-295BHP.

The power and torque curves were pretty good. Power was increasing up to 6000 revs then went flat to the red line, didnt drop at all.

Power station i can recommend for sure.

Maybe i should take it to power engineering next and get 320BHP .....only joking, but there seems to be a little contraversy between the two places and their figures.

Doesn't really matter who is right as long as you are not disappointed with figures that are decent enough for the spec of car.

 

Very true John .....i was beginning to get hung up on the BHP figure and then i thought sod it, it goes like stink and im happy ......good enough for me

 

So I was 3 bhp out . My RA made 258.5bhp and 233lb/ft on Nobles rollers. It did however produce 195bhp at the wheels which is pretty impressive for a pretty much standard car (so I was told)

I was thinking about this today. Subarus book figures for my car are 276bhp and 249lb/ft.

The interesting thing is both my figures are 93.5% of the claimed output by Subaru. So the ratio of bhp/torque seems the same, maybe just coincidence but like you it all about the power and torque graphs that matter. Plus it upsets people when they have a lift and I tell them it only got 250bhp .
