After resolving a custom product request for a customer, the manufacturer involved asked if i knew of anyone who had a P1, Sti7 or MY03 so that he could make some templates from them.

The product in question is stone-protection film (the same stuff as Armourfend, sold by a diffeernt company)to protect front ends/wings etc from stone damage. He has offered anyone willing to supply their car as a template a 50% reduction in price, based on cost of similar products. At this point in time he only has patterns for 97-00 models and MY01 WRX's.

I would like to make it clear that with regard to this specific offer, my company has nothing to do with this in the commercial sense, other than i have dealt with him, and he asked me the above question. Obviously Scoobynet seemed like the best place to offer it...

So, if anyone is interested, please contact me and i will pass you the details of the manufacturer for YOU to liase with directly.
I can also let you know what his current kits sell for, to get a rough idea of the likely cost. He is based in Kent, so obviously anyone in that area would be most handy.

Why doesn't he just buy a set from armourfend, and copy that?

Or might this outlook on life be why international firms are wary of intellectual property issues in South Africa...?

 

Can he do sheets cut to fit the Morrette lenses.
Don't fancy chipping one of those!

 

Assuming Armourfend do them, I guess it could be seen as plageurism(sp?). Plus I'm sure if they buy every kit available from Armourfend it would a)cost bucket loads, b)look a bit strange
