Can anyone tell me whether a positive(+) knock correction reading using Delta Dash(DD) on an STi 8 is added to the ignition timing reported on the DD. If so then negative (-) knock correction means knocking detected and the ignition is being retarded.

Sorry me dumb!!Grammer bad very!!

The ECU would be advancing the timing only at the revs you see the positive knock correction. It would be added to the ignition timing reported on the DD.

As for negative knock, the ECU would be detecting knock and retarding the timing. This doesn't necessarily mean that it's knocking all the time. If the ECU has picked up knock, say even once, it memmorises the knock and reduces the timing automatically at the revs it had picked up the knock before so as to catch the situation in case it knocked again.

Cheers,

George.

What are you readings ?

To provide you with some STi8 figures (running 2'5 sport cat and Blitz catback 3'),
I get KC around +12° at 3200rpm with 1.30b max and 20°C external temp.

Never more than:
+8.5 @ 5500,
+6.0 @ 6400,
+3.5 @ the redline with 98 octane.

From time to time, I get -1° or so negative KC at low rpm or backing off the throttle (knocks the sensor...?) but I never had any negative reading on boost.
