the MY refers to the model year, so my car, a 1994, would be a MY94.

So your 1996 car would be a MY96.

Not always - my '95 car is a MY96 - there's a crossover point that doesn't correspond with the changing of the years.

They still sell curent stock as well at the cross over. I brought an MY98 UK new in October 1998 basically because it would have been at least 6 months wait for an MY99. The cross over is normally about september/october. Not sure about the Uk as I never checked mine but there is a little white tag on the base of the drivers seat belt on my JDM car which has the date I guess the selt belts were made/installed. Gives you an idea when the car was manufactured and a better idea of the MY.

September 1995 onwards would carry a MY96 I believe.

So a September 1996 onwards would carry a MY97.
