Just to give a huge thumbs up to the Japfest organisers, SIDC, and 99% of attendees today. As my first track day in my scoob, all I can say is 'when is the next one?'

It truly was incredible and I can fully see why people get so addicted, we've watched the in car video about 10 times already

I wasn't expecting such a universally friendly vibe from all corners, and the scoob enclosure was something to behold

Some truly fabulous machinery there, and some truly fantastic people. Special thanks to Nozzer for helping with track tickets, Trouser for coming round for support on my first laps, Eliot et al for the photos and the guy in front of us in the P1 for being so damn nice and helpful.

The car behaved impeccably although Trouser reckons I need a front strutbrace, and considering the engine modding has yet to begin in earnest, I was well happy with the grunt.

Anyway, all i can say is when is the next trackday!!!

The next SIDC track day is actually next Saturday at Knockhill (see www.knockhill.com)

We've got the track booked from 9am to 1pm, 4 hours open pit lane for only £65. Instructor available (free of charge) if required. No extra fees for passengers or additional drivers.

I know it's a couple hours drive for some people in the south to travel to, but why not make a long weekend of it, since it's a bank holiday weekend We've had people come from as far as Southampton before and say it was worth the journey.

We'll also have a wheel and tyre van there, who will swap your wheels and tyres over (again free!), and they can also hire you out slicks (or you can buy them), as well as any make/model of road tyre at competitive prices.

Book online quickly at http://shop.sidc.co.uk - there's only a couple of places left, despite what the shop numbers say - these don't take account of postal/cheque bookings.

Thumbs up from me too, to SIDC and Japfest organisers.

I thought the Track sessions were particularly well organised and run. 12 cars (max) out at a time worked really well as it generally reduced confrontations, and it was nice to see some nicely balanced mixed marque sessions too.

Well done to Ed for an impressive track debut, smooth and swift to us observers (Trouser may have other opinions LOL).
I have to mention some other drivers I enjoyed too.
Firstly one of the Scooby guys, in the reddish Blue classic with slightly tinted rear clusters, seemed incredibly quick and controlled.
My Favorite The white box-standard CRX mid-morning, which matched for a whole session the pace of an EVO5 and a Skyline, both of whom weren't hanging about, looked like an excellent display of driving rather than just cars grunt! This guy was seriously impressive.
The black Celica (he that was involved with yellow Skyline), again matching the pace of quicker cars, yet with half the effort. And then for the excellent control and foresight to miss he previously mentioned low-flying Skyline!
I also enjoyed the awesome Reyland Cossie, incredibly rapid, and by the cornering style very well set up handling wise too! He didn't have 'an off' by the way, he just shredded a tyre on the back straight!!

Great spectating!

 

Did ya see the little MX-5 turbo... driver had some skill throwing that about... he hounded past one scooby, and was catching the other at a great rate of knots! The scooby wasn't slouching either! Great to see one of the lesser cars, like the CRX, and the GT4 up with the big boys!!
PS... the secong of the 2 white skylines... was like a supersonic jet... quiet till it passes... then VroOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMM Grumble!

 

How come that white skyline sounded like a low flying jet.
Non of the other skylines had that whistle from the exhaust.

That'll be Jonno. Took it easy for a few laps on his second session, then opened the gates of hell towards the end of it!!!

Like mine he has continual problems at RR days, but should be in the high 300's!!!

A big fat turbo/wastegate, and HKS headers do him the odd favour in the noise department!

Bloody hell, i was partly right!!!

 

Disco the Reyland Escort was running low boost today.... 1.4 bar instead of 2.2 bar as it was it's first track day with the new engine

you're right it was a tyre blow out that caused the damage to his car although he did go out in the last session of the day when it was pi*sing down with rain and spun of into the tyre wall. luckily it was just a damaged rear light and scratched bumper!!!

Have to agree with the other cars...the STi8 sounded awesome and he was ploughing well past Avon rise before touching the brakes!!

The mx5 supercharged was slaying cars much more powerful and expensive, the Celica seemed almost effortlessly fast and the CRX was also thoroughly committed. Some class driving today.

And also some that left a lot to be desired. A certain white classic WRX could do with learning some track etiquette after upsetting more than one person...

...ah well, its all a learning experience I guess....

 

Just like to underline the comments and congratulate the Japfest organisers and thank SIDC for all their hard work in looking after things for the Scoobs.

Have to agree SIDC and all the Scoobs seemed to make the Day

If Scoobysport/JW racing/ TSL had STalls there they would have made a Killing IMHO as to many Scoobyboys had fat wallets and nothing much to spend it on

Great day, sadly my baby is in the garage getting some new pistons so I was in a Legacy of justice (parked in the car park)

I was watching the racing about 3 o'clock I think, their were 2 P1's on the track, **** me the 2nd one was fast it nearly caught the first one within 3 laps and the first wasn't hanging around.

It was nice watching all the big power cars i.e. RX7's and Supra's having to slow right down for the corners and the Scoobies just flying on through.

I would have to say that the scoobys going round the track looked great (p1 boys were out in force, nice one ). I did feel sorry for that little white civic as he seems he was slightly out of his league... poor bloke. The CRX was great though.. What the hell did he have under his bonnet??

I thought one of the quickest cars that I had seen on the track was the Norris Designs Evo.... shame he lost it and smashed it some what... he wasn’t holding back though... looked and sounded great.


The JW Racing Scooby was great too!!

Had a great day, even if me mates got me up at 4.45am to leave the island to get there for the opening!!

There's no way that was standrd, surely Disco?. Aren't they 1.6's?

I know he was a good driver but that thing flew as well.

Well....not strictly standard, but compared to the others.

They are 1.6i VTEC, and he definitely had sports suspension, and probably a filter and exhaust. Couldn't sense any more than that tho.

 

So u dont know for sure then?
