Question

Is it safe to take a scooby with the prodrive rear wing through a car wash?

Don't fancy comming out the other side without the rear wing

Cool

I've never tried with the STI5, and wouldn't want to either for safety.

(Dont be so lazy)

Not worth the risk, I'd say it would get ripped off, not only that think of all the grit in the brushes. Dig out the bucket and sponge!!

LOL @ DISCO

I know what you mean but I wont be until 6:30 tonight and my wife has arranged visitors at 7pm for the evening and i am leaving for Japfest @ 5am in the morning.

No time to hand wash and wax car

Maybe I could take it to one of the jetwash places

By the way DISCO how are the PIAA wipers?

To be honest, i wouldnt put a scoob through a standard car wash.
You'll get hundreds of small marks on the paintwork.
Hand wash or jet only for me.

If you drive your car to a drive thru car wash you'll really regret it...why? Cos you'll mark the paintwork with thousands of fine lines..........you have been warned.

Subaru paintwork is less than half the thickness of European paints and as such it marks really easily.

DON'T DO IT MATE !!!!

I took a mark 1 MR2 through a carwash a few years ago and it ripped the spoiler clean off and also bent the boot lid aa well as lifting the car up off the ground at the back. Fortunately there ws no disclaimer at the garage and they paid for a brand new bootlid and spoiler from Toyota, total bill £960 ! Next day there was a disclaimer put up, I was very fortunate, although Toyota had to have the car back 4 times due to really crap spray job.

Skoosh.

Most carwash brushes are hard on the paint, cant beat a Jetwash for doing a safe job and getting all the crud off from under the wings etc.

Exclamation

i do often consider when my Sti8 looks like its just come back from a trip to the farm but would never actually do it. theres one set up at my local shell station and the guy who operates it said, we get all sorts here. we got a guy with a rear wing stuck on with double sided tape (i think it was a corolla...LOL), but for the majority of cars that have wings we usually give them a semi-solid push and pull to see if they can withstand it but we always tell the owner that the risk is theirs and if it comes off then nowt to do with us

so i wouldn't do it personally...

I put mine through a car wash once and regret it now. In certain lights at certain angles you can see 'hazy' parts in the paint, with nice scratches running through them. It's not noticable atall unless under certain conditions, but it's there.
