Question

My terzo is fitted with a Unichip (blue) version A what ever that is

Anyway.... the insurance companies dont like it at all and its costing me a fortune to insure with the chip in the car.

I figure most of the time i dont need the extra BHP and certainly dont need the inflated insurance cost

So, i am looking for someone or a place that can properly remove the chip and return the engine to standard BHP output.

I am totally clueless regarding these things, does it mean i will need a standard ecu to replace the unichip? or does the unichip unplug and the standard ecu need remapping? or have i got it totally wrong ?

I would rather not travel miles and miles to get this done and would like it taken out asap.. anyone that can give me any advise or recommend a place, i would be very grateful

Thanks

Chris

I know this isnt a normal question. IE its usually the other way round, but i really need to get this removed.

Surely someone knows someone or a some place to get this done?

Two minute search for unichip found this http://www.dastek.co.za/

It looks like it plugs into the ECU externally ie unplug subarus wiring loom from the ecu, plug it into the unichip then plug the unichip into the ECU. If that's the case then it should be just a 2 minute job to remove it yourself. If not then look for a local dealer and ask them.
