Legacy GTB estate what do you think?
Been offered one 98 S reg FSH ,just had major service including cambelt,new tyres ,new discs and pads ,90k miles. Just a couple of questions any problems to look out for ,and whats it worth ?
Make sure the exhaust system is in good condition, the back box has a valve that opens & closes that can stop working & cause the cable in the boot to snap. The rest of the exhaust is very expensive & does not match any UK legacy models. If the vehicle has the yellow bilstien struts make sure they are not leaking or knocking as they are approx £440 each. You say the vehicle has new brakes but what type have been fitted? The brakes are quite poor in standard form & can run out quite fast, fit something like tarox discs with mintex pads would be my advise. Otherwise servicing is the same as an impreza turbo. 98S was also the year of the body style change.

Had mine for almost a year, think they're great.
Look over mechanically like you would any subaru.
There just as expensive as the Impreza and you'll have to use an independent for non run of the mill bits.
Bilstiens are not cheap, but a few have swopped over to leda and the like.
A good quality disc and pads transform the brakes
If it's got the std alloys, 4pots can't be fitted without new wheels.
Don't panic about the exhaust, mines just been replace by H&S for half the price of shipping in a new one.
Going rate for one of these on Autotrader about 8-10K
8K and below is a bargin
Never de-cat the primary. De-catting the secondary causes boost spikes, but is curable.
